Pitted dried prunes

These pitted prunes are a versatile pantry ingredient, ready to use in both sweet and savoury dishes where a concentrated fruit note is welcome. They work well in baked goods, breakfast mixes and as a sweet component in chutneys or sauces.

Where to use

  • In cakes, muffins and other baked goods for added flavour and texture.
  • Stirred into porridge, muesli or yoghurt as a fruity breakfast addition.
  • In compotes, chutneys or pan sauces to complement vegetables or meat dishes.
  • As a convenient snack or part of a cheese and nut platter.

Soaking and preparation

If you prefer a softer texture for cooking, these prunes are well suited to soaking. Rinse briefly, cover with plenty of water and bring to a short boil. Drain if desired, or use the cooking liquid in your recipe. The liquid can be lightly thickened with cornstarch (maizena) to create a more cohesive sauce or compote.

Practical tips

  • Quick compote: soak, simmer briefly and mash with a splash of the cooking liquid.
  • For baking: coarsely chop and fold into batter to distribute evenly.
  • In savoury dishes: add small pieces to stews or sauces for depth and gentle sweetness without overpowering.

Ingredients: Prunes, preservative E200 (0.1%). Despite very careful cleaning, it is not entirely excluded that a pit has remained.

Allergens: May contain traces of nuts, peanut, sesame.
